Chromosome 1 Workshop 97
A mini-chromosome 1 workshop was held April 25-27 at Duke University,
hosted by Jeff Vance. Because of restricted funding for chromosome
workshops, only a limited number of participants were able to attend.
The focus of the workshop was on map integration rather than on
gathering information from the entire chromosome 1 community. Also,
for the first time, thanks to participation by the Sanger Centre,
serious discussions on large-scale mapping and sequencing of
chromosome 1 were possible. A workshop report has been written and
will be published in Cytogenetics and Cell Genetics. The full report
and abstracts are now accessible from this page. The highlight of the
meeting was a visit to the Duke
University Primate Center where we saw lots of lemurs and other
prosimians ---->
The following were in attendance:
- Jeff Vance (Duke, NC): meeting organizer, disease genes, new
genes
- Simon Gregory (Sanger, UK): physical mapping of chr 1
- Bronwen Loder: HUGO
- Tara Matise (Rockefeller, NY): genetic and radiation hybrid
mapping, integration
- Chris Porter (GDB, MD): GDB support, integration
- Brian Schutte (U. Iowa, IA): 1q physical mapping
- Yunxia Tao (Duke, NC): EST Resources
- Mark Vaudin (Sanger, UK): sequencing
- Susan Wallace: HUGO
- Andreas Weith (IMB, Austria): 1p physical mapping
- Pete White (CHOP, PA) : 1p36 physical mapping, resources, map
integration
- Richard Wooster (Sanger, UK): physical mapping of chr 1
